The (very old) NetApp system which served the department scratch space (/uusoc/scratch/{res,users,classes}) has developed severe hardware issues.  Since the machine is no longer under service, we have no options for repair.  What data was there, is gone and will not be recovered.  (It was scratch space, after all…)

We are currently working on a new system to provide this service, but currently do not have a ETA to give.  Hopefully we’ll have it in place in short order.

NOTE: This issue does not affect scratch space defined on individual client machines.
